Juicy Markers and Juice Tomatoes

By Caley King @caleysjournal

Some people choose flowers. Others go for beach scenes or butterflies.

But for me, summer brings one thing: heirloom tomatoes. 🍅

And when I say summer brings them, I don’t mean to my yard. Despite years of trying to grow my own heirlooms, the squirrels beat me to them every year and I’ve never gotten my own home-grown tomato. So I’m just drawing them instead.

Tomatoes are bright. They’re summery. They show up in everything—from caprese salads to chaotic grocery bags that somehow still feel like self-care. I’m not the realest of Southerners in a lot of ways, but slice up an heirloom in the summer with some salt and pepper, and it goes with any meal. My Southern girl roots will never be too good for that.

If you want to recreate this juicy little setup, I linked the exact supplies I used below—including my favorite red brush pen and the notebook that never bleeds (even when I do draw a tomato that looks a little… ominous).

Go ahead. Let your bullet journal be weirdly delicious this month. 🍅
